Chemical Process Control is the premier international conference on process control, aiming to assess progress in the theory and practice of process control, and to identify major directions for research and technology development in the next decade. Strong industrial participation, invited oral presentations that provide authoritative overviews (most co-authored by academic and industrial leaders), contributed poster presentations that illustrate the depth and breadth of the field, and interactive panel discussions are among the conference highlights for CPC VIII. Informal interactions and ample opportunities for networking are facilitated by a compact, yet flexible schedule, which includes group hospitality every evening of the conference. CPC VIII takes place immediately after FOCAPO, with a joint programming day exploring the interface of operations and control, and their integration in the context of enterprise-wide operations. In addition to core subjects and applications in the process industries, energy and sustainability are highlighted, along with emerging technologies in the advanced materials and health-related industries.
Technical Sessions
- Integration of operations and control
- New domains for operations and control research
- Large-scale and networked process systems
- Renewable energy and sustainable processes
- Methods and enabling technologies
- Non-traditional application domains: success stories and challenges
Education Session
An interactive session addressing the role of systems education within the evolving chemical engineering discipline and its curriculum, and the effectiveness of current courses in meeting industry needs.
Panel Discussions
Bridging control and operations; Future of control technology: industry/vendor perspectives; Systems and control opportunities in energy research; Unsolved problems and needs in fundamental research; Process control opportunities in emerging technologies.
Contributed Poster Presentations
Posters will be an essential part of the conference, showcasing contributions from the broad research community, including industrial success stories and vendor exhibits. All papers submitted for poster presentation will be peer reviewed. Some of the contributed papers will be selected for oral presentation and a large number will be selected for inclusion in a post-conference journal issue.
